The latest Belmap release (2025.06) is here, and it comes with a powerful set of data enhancements and a brand-new module to enrich your location intelligence workflows. Whether you're working on risk assessment, energy transition, mobility planning or real estate analytics, these updates deliver more accurate, more relevant, and more actionable insights.
Here’s what’s new:
New Data Module: Daytime Capacity of buildings
Understanding how buildings are used during the day — beyond just who lives there — is crucial for planning and analysis. That’s why we’ve added the Building Daytime Capacity module. It estimates how many people are typically present in a building during daytime hours, taking into account residents, workers, students, visitors, and tourists.
These values are modelled based on building use, volume, density statistics and seasonal trends such as school holidays and tourism peaks. Discover here the complete introduction of this new data module.
Updated Solar Panel Data for Flanders and Brussels
Our solar panel detection has been refreshed with aerial photography from 2024, delivering improved accuracy and up-to-date coverage in Flanders and Brussels. This update affects both:
• Solar Panel Presence (whether PV installations are visible)
• Solar Panel Characteristics (estimated panel area and number of panels)
Roof Typology & Roof Characteristics: Now Available in the Netherlands
We’ve expanded the Roof Typology and Roof Characteristics modules to cover the Netherlands — previously only available for Belgium.
You can now analyse:
• Roof type (flat, gable, pyramid, complex…)
• Orientation and inclination per roof segment
• 3D roof area split over cardinal directions (N, NE, E, etc.)
This data is essential for solar suitability studies, rainwater harvesting strategies, and architectural typology research.
Major Update: Detailed Building Volume (NL)
The Building Detailed Volume module has received a major upgrade for the Netherlands, now powered by a richer and more recent AHN dataset. This brings more precise 3D volumes, especially for buildings with complex roof structures.
How to Access the New Data
All updates are available via:
• Belmap 360 (for quick visualisation and analysis)
• Belmap API (for integration into your own workflows)
• Belmap Flat File Extract (for bulk data delivery)
